Many of my Red Rili Shrimps have been carrying eggs in their backs for a few weeks now. This is where the eggs are stored before being fertilised by a male after the female moults.
To my joy I noticed a female carrying eggs on her underside today. These are the eggs that have travelled from the back (or saddle as it is often called) of the shrimp.
Here’s a very short film illustrating the female carrying eggs.
